10 Things You Can Do At Home While Social Distancing | Featuring Je’Zel C.

Today we have Je’Zel C. from the Ana and Zel Blog. We will be talking about all the things you can do at home while social distancing. This is now a big part of everyone’s life whether you are new to working from home or just want some fun ideas that you want to begin doing while social distancing.

These ideas and activities that we have put together for you today are some of the ones we are doing and are inspired by a recent YouTube Video of Natalie Barbu. They are really great + simple to get started with!

Why Practice Social Distancing?

Before we get started, let’s talk a little about why you should practice social distancing. I know there are some who don’t take this seriously and some that do. So I’m very aware of these two sides. However, as human beings, we should be doing our duty and keeping ourselves and others safe. Social distancing controls the spread of viruses, so let’s #flattenthecurve.

With that said, let’s begin!

10 Things You Can Do At Home While Social Distancing

1) Start a business

Take this opportunity to start a business if you don’t have one or just want to create another income stream. You have the time! This can be anything from a blog to a podcast. Or even an eCommerce store.

Creating a blog and a podcast doesn’t. They don’t have to be expensive, they are actually quite affordable depending if you choose to use free platforms or not.

2) Go on a walk

I think it’s important to remember that taking out the garbage or taking your dog outside to use the bathroom, is not enough. We as human beings need Vitamin D from the Sun. I know that I don’t go outside enough, even before this social distancing became mandatory. I work from home and I’m very much a homebody.

However, I’m beginning to take walks around my neighborhood or just walk down my street. Every bit of air helps!

3) Put Together a Large Puzzle and Play Board Games

If you are super bored or just need a fun activity to do. Then this is perfect! This is also great if you have a family and need something to entertain the kids. Recently I have been into big puzzles and the UNO game.

4) Spa Day

You can take advantage of this opportunity to have a much-needed Spa Day. Ladies you don’t have to feel guilty because everyone deserves a nice relaxed day where you are pampering yourself. Your Spa Day can include doing a Face mask, hair mask, a warm bubble bath, mani/Pedi, and so much more!

5) Read

It’s a great idea to read the books that you haven’t gotten to yet. I love reading and I have several books in a pile that I been meaning to read. One of the books that I will begin reading is Every Breath by Nicolas Spark and a couple of others on Kindle.

6) Creating new recipes

I have more than enough time to try and create tasty recipes. I have been really feeling mushrooms lately. Some of the recipes I have created are Creamy Mushroom Pasta, Mashed Potatoes with Mushroom, and garlic mushroom chicken casserole.

These recipes will be up on Ana and Zel very soon so keep a lookout!

Cooking is a great way to relax, have fun, and eat tasty food. It’s just me and Je’Ana and we eat different things, so it great to try recipes from Pinterest and create some of my own. So I have a wide array of recipes to try, which is what I have to say is very fun.

7) Start a bullet journal

Starting a bullet journal is a creative way to get your life together. I think it is really cool because you can track basically anything and you just need a notebook, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. I just got a composition notebook from the dollar store and some colored pens. For my bullet journal pages, I have:

  • Daily Affirmations

  • Daily To-Do List

  • Habit Tracker ( Daily things you forget to do sometimes, like make your bed, check your emails, etc)

  • Water Tracker (It’s important to drink tons of water to get rid of toxins and honestly feel good.

  • Goals

  • List of Books To Read

Stay motivated and productive!

8) Eating Healthy

Eating healthy is another great thing to start doing. I eat okay, but I realized I need to really appreciate and take care of my body. I always try to do my best, but I know I need to step it up. So I have been eating more fruits, vegetables, cutting back a little from carbs, and of course, taking vitamins to keep my immune system strong and healthy. So if you’re not doing this yet, get right to it. Stay healthy and be safe.

9) Organization

Since I am spending more time at home, it is a good time to organize areas of the apartment that I didn’t have time to do before. I am taking this on the day at a time and just having fun doing it. I know it sounds weird but organizing my kitchen cabinets and closets with some music on is relaxing.

If you’re working from home, make your workspace really organized. I ensure you this will make you feel motivated and inspired to keep working.

Organize will take a good chunk of time out of your day, so if your feeling bored its perfect to start doing.

10) Learn a New Skill

Learn a new skill from Youtube or even SkillShare. Such as knitting, painting, blogging, web design, cooking, and even calligraphy. I began learning how to knit a blanket from Youtube, unfortunately, it is still a work in progress. I tried different stitches, found one I really like and I am stuck on the 4th row.  I may seem easy, but when actually trying it is quite difficult. But who knows it might just be me.

Learning new skills is fun and it keeps me busy, so I definitely recommend learning a new skill.
