However, as of September 2026, retatrutide has not been approved by the FDA or any other regulatory agency. Lilly has said it plans to submit a U.S. application in the first quarter of 2027.

That distinction matters because investigational results aren't the same thing as regulatory approval. You may come across websites claiming that you can buy Retatrutide online, but availability through a website does not mean a product has been evaluated or approved for human use.

The FDA currently states that retatrutide cannot legally be used in compounding and has not been found safe and effective for any condition. The agency has also warned companies marketing unapproved retatrutide products directly to consumers.

Lilly similarly warns people not to take products claiming to contain retatrutide outside of its sponsored clinical trials because products sold elsewhere may contain incorrect amounts, contaminants, impurities, or entirely different ingredients.
